BRENHAM FIRE DEPARTMENT NAMES FIREFIGHTER, LADIES AUXILIARY MEMBER OF THE YEAR
The Brenham Fire Department has announced the 2019 Firefighter and Ladies Auxiliary Member of the Year.

Pam Ruemke was named Firefighter of the Year, while Sharon Flisowski was named Ladies Auxiliary Member of the Year.
Ruemke, the first woman in the department to receive the title, has been with the Brenham Fire Department since 2006, wearing numerous hats during her career. She holds certifications as an Intermediate Police Officer, Arson Investigator, and recently completed a Brenham Fire Department recruit class. She has also received her Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE).
Ruemke currently serves as the Public Safety IT Administrator for the City of Brenham, overseeing the police and fire departments while handling software updates and equipment upgrades.
Besides firefighting, Ruemke is very involved in the department’s activities. She works her Training Center crew and fills in when needed, helps at department fundraisers and retiree socials, and is the chairman of the raffle committee for the Fireman’s Fiesta.
In addition to Ruemke’s service to the fire department, Pam's husband, Billy, son, Joshua, and daughter, Heather have also been involved.

Flisowski has been a Ladies Auxiliary Member since 2009, when her husband, Lang, joined the fire department. This is her second time to win the award.
Flisowski has held several officer positions in her time with the auxiliary, and assists with many of the department’s fundraisers, including preparation work and cleanup duties. She has held the office of Vice President and President at the Central Texas District level, and served as chair of the Scholarship Golf Tournament committee for several years at the state level. Her children, Kaitlin and Landon, have served as sweetheart and mascot at the district and state level.
