NEW FAYETTE CO. EMS BUILDING CONTRACTOR LEAVES PROJECT UNFINISHED
The general contractor for the new EMS Headquarters in Fayette Co. has left the project in limbo.
Don Krueger Construction Company of Victoria has reportedly gone out of business before completing the project.
The Victoria Advocate is reporting that Krueger laid off all employees sometime in mid-January.
Inspector Clint Sternadel told Fayette County Commissioners, EMS cannot occupy the building until workers repair the building’s concrete floor.
Shernadel says the architect is working on a solution with the company that did the work.
The electrical subcontractor has also told commissioners that Krueger never paid them for the electrical work on the building. Wallace Electrical says Krueger has not returned their calls and have been told by former employees of the construction company, it’s filing for bankruptcy.
The Victoria Advocate is also reporting that Krueger recently settled a lawsuit with the Taft School District over the quality of work on their new athletic complex.
Next time fayette county commissioners use local businesses and contractors to do your work. They pay taxes in your county. Let this be a good lesson for all involved. Keep local dollars local. Don’t take too much brain to figure that one out!!
