SECOND VICTIM OF WELL BLOWOUT DIES–FAMILY OF VICTIM FILES SUIT
A second person has died following an oil well blowout, Wednesday near Caldwell.

Officials with Chesapeake Energy confirmed Friday another contractor died late Thursday evening due to their injuries. Two individuals are still receiving treatment.
The family of Windell Beddingfield has come forward identifying him as the contractor that died at the scene of the explosion. However, the names of those killed or injured have not been released yet by law enforcement or Chesapeake.
Officials with Burleson County Sheriff's Office say they do not have that information.
Late Friday, Chesapeake Energy released a statement saying that the victims were not their employees, but were hired by contractors C.C. Forbes and Eagle Pressure Control.
Beddingfield’s family has filed a temporary restraining order and temporary injunction against Chesapeake Operating, L.L.C, and Chesapeake Energy Corp.
Attorney, Eric Allen, of Zehl and Associates PC, said the reason for filing the documents is to preserve evidence at the scene so they can perform their own investigation.
Chesapeake Energy has confirmed, "the fire has been extinguished and the well is secured."
Chesapeake Energy Friday statement:
At approximately 3:30pm CT on January 29th a fire was reported at a Chesapeake wellsite in Burleson County, Texas. At the time of the incident, workover operations were being conducted by Chesapeake contractors C.C. Forbes and Eagle Pressure Control. One contractor was killed at the scene and another died Thursday evening as a result of injuries sustained during the incident. Two others continue to receive treatment at regional medical facilities. The fire has been extinguished and the well is secured. Our thoughts and prayers are with those impacted.
This is a sad story. Unfortunately happens many times in the oil fields.
This is why I hate to see these drillers coming to Washington County.
