NAVASOTA PHARMACIST BEING INVESTIGATED BY DEA FOR STEALING PRESCRIPTION DRUGS

A Navasota pharmacist has been released from jail after being arrested last week for stealing pharmacy drugs.

Anthony Ellis
(Grimes Co. Jail)

Anthony Ellis made $10,000 bond Sunday from the Grimes County Jail, after being arrested and charged with Theft of a Controlled Substance.

Last week, Navasota police responded to the Brookshire Brothers Pharmacy at 309 North La Salle Street, where they met with pharmacy loss prevention officers.  According to those officials, Ellis had been taking prescription and controlled substances from the pharmacy for months.

Police say a confession was obtained from Ellis by store management, who have terminated his employment.

The Navasota Police Department is working alongside the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) to determine a time frame for when the thefts began.  Other charges against Ellis are pending.
