CITY OF BRENHAM CLOSING SOME FACILITIES IN RESPONSE TO COVID-19

The City of Brenham has taken additional measures to stop the potential spread of COVID-19.

After several city leaders met today (Friday) to discuss potential closures of city-run facilities, it was decided that the Blue Bell Aquatic Center, Nancy Carol Roberts Memorial Library, and the Carousel will be closed from this Sunday to Sunday, March 22nd.  The Brenham Pet Adoption Center will also be closed to visitors.

In addition, all city-sponsored recreational events will be cancelled through this period of time.  City leaders will meet again on Thursday to re-evaluate conditions and determine if an extension is necessary.

City officials say, due to the closure of Brenham ISD, these facilities may be heavily impacted, placing staff and residents at unnecessary risk.  They say the purpose of the school closures is to allow people to self-quarantine or implement social distancing in order to reduce potential exposure.

City parks, trails, and other outdoor amenities will be open and available for the public.

Residents are encouraged to contact the city with any questions or concerns by calling 979-337-7200, or follow developing events at www.cityofbrenham.org or the City of Brenham Facebook page.
