In addition, the Catholic Diocese of Austin announced Tuesday it would suspend all public masses and liturgies, effective immediately. In a letter sent to churches Tuesday, Austin Bishop Joe S. Vasquez said priests can offer daily and Sunday masses privately in sanctuaries, while churches can use social media to give updates to parishioners. Local churches are asked to maintain day-to-day operations, using reduced staff if necessary.
St. Mary's Catholic Church in Brenham, in addition to the weekday, weekend vigil and Sunday masses, has also cancelled confessions, homebound Eucharistic ministry, and Stations of the Cross.
Any local churches that have suspended services are encouraged to let us know by email at news@kwhi.com, mail@kwhi.com, or by calling 979-836-3655.
