FIRST CASE OF COVID-19 CONFIRMED IN GRIMES CO.
Grimes County health officials have confirmed the first case of COVID-19 within the county.
Grimes County Emergency Management officials made the announcement this (Wednesday) afternoon, stating the person who tested positive for the virus was a male in his 50s. According to authorities, the man contracted the virus while traveling outside of the county, but has not had any contact with others since returning home.
It is not known at this time where the man traveled, when he came back to Grimes County, what part of the county he lives in, or his current condition.
Monday, Grimes County passed a local disaster declaration of a public health emergency for the county. Several Grimes County school districts have announced closures through early April.
