DRIVE-THRU COVID-19 TESTING AVAILABLE THROUGH THURSDAY AT BELLVILLE MEDICAL CENTER
The Bellville Medical Center is providing drive-thru testing for COVID-19.

The test collection site was open Tuesday and today (Wednesday), and will also be open tomorrow (Thursday) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Bellville Medical Center.
Testing is available for those who have doctor’s orders to get tested and made an appointment. They will also need to have their ID and insurance card, or a debit or credit card for individual payment of $100, and agree to self-isolate until their test results return.
The $100 cost is to send the test to a private lab, which will have results available in 24 to 48 hours. There is no cost to send tests to a state-funded lab, but results may take up to seven to ten days to get back.
Staff say the medical center is prepared to evaluate, diagnose, and treat COVID-19 patients both in their emergency room and in their hospital. Staff are prepared to care for patients who are contagious, and the hospital has isolation rooms to contain the illness. Staff say the center has sufficient personal protective equipment and tests available at this time.
Entering the facility is limited and everyone, including staff, is screened at the two entrances that are open at this time. Visitation is restricted to those who are over 18, have been screened, and have been determined to be necessary according to patient condition.
According to County Judge Tim Lapham, three people have tested positive at the Bellville Medical Center, but they were not Austin County residents. At this time, no Austin County residents have tested positive at the Bellville Medical Center. There are currently four confirmed COVID-19 cases in Austin County.
