THIRD COVID-19 CASE CONFIRMED IN FAYETTE CO.

A third confirmed case of COVID-19 has been reported in Fayette County.

Tuesday, the Fayette County Office of Emergency Management said the third case is in a man in his 70s, who is currently hospitalized at an out-of-county hospital.  The patient is believed to have acquired the virus via community spread, as there is no known contact with a confirmed patient.

Fayette County Judge Joe Weber announced Tuesday that during investigation of the county’s second confirmed case, it was determined that the person had contact with other individuals, and there was some known contact with Schulenberg-area businesses.

Weber said all known businesses have been notified, and have received guidance from their health professionals as to what appropriate actions to take.  Several citizens have been ordered to self-quarantine, and to watch signs and symptoms closely.

Citizens are urged to continue practicing social distancing, avoid all unnecessary contact with others, and wash their hands frequently.
