BRENHAM CITY COUNCIL TO REVISIT DISASTER DECLARATION AT VIDEO/TELECONFERENCE MEETING THURSDAY

The Brenham City Council will vote on an extension of the city’s local disaster declaration at a video/teleconference meeting today (Thursday).

The resolution being considered by the council today would extend the declaration a second time through next Friday, April 10th, after it was first extended at the council’s meeting last week.

The council will also consider an ordinance temporarily authorizing City Manager James Fisher, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, to adopt and administer policies and practices governing operation of the city’s utility systems and associated services.  The emergency measure would allow Fisher to manage the city’s utility system which may include things such as utility deferral plans—on a case-by-case basis—for commercial and/or residential customers.  If approved, the ordinance would become effective immediately.

The public can attend the meeting from their homes by phone or online.

To join the meeting by phone, dial 469-998-5921 and enter the conference ID of 940 623 69 #.  Future meetings will have different Conference ID’s, which will be posted on the City’s website and on the meeting agenda.  The agenda can be found on the City’s website as well as the bulletin board outside of City Hall.

The public can also access the meeting online by going to www.cityofbrenham.org, selecting City Council Meeting from the home page, and selecting Join Council Meeting online from the City Council Meeting page.  Citizens can join the meeting up to 30 minutes prior to the meeting start time of 1 p.m.

Citizens are asked to avoid logging into multiple phones and/or devices in the same room, as it can cause audio feedback.  If needed, the meeting organizer may mute participants during the meeting.  Each participant will be responsible for unmuting themselves prior to speaking.  Muting and unmuting for telephone conference participants can be done by pressing *6 on their telephone.

The council will meet this afternoon at 1 p.m.  A recording of the meeting will be available on the City of Brenham website after the meeting concludes, and will remain available until the minutes from the meeting are posted.
