REP. LEMAN DISCUSSES ROLE OF COMMUNICATION, GOVERNMENT’S FOCUS DURING COVID-19 CRISIS
State Representative Ben Leman has given an update on what is being done to prepare for life during and after the COVID-19 crisis.

Leman said he spends a lot of time on conference calls learning about different programs and methods of COVID-19 assistance available, then relaying that information to local leaders and constituents. He said he also regularly talks with local healthcare providers and elected officials to determine what the personal protective equipment (PPE) needs are in their respective communities.
Leman said there is a lot of pressure to provide accurate and pertinent information during this time where so many people are affected, but he feels the public has a good understanding of where affairs stand.
Much of the information Leman is passing on pertains to the federal and state resources being made available to individuals and businesses. He said dozens of programs are available at this point, so it is important to make the clarifications on which programs help which people, such as the Payment Protection Program that provides payroll assistance for small businesses.
Leman said many government officials are primarily focusing on moving past the peak of the virus quickly, in order to begin virus recovery efforts.
Leman said all of the different topics being brought up during this time, including economic relief, PPE, and proper health safety and precautions, feed back into a singular plan of COVID-19 action and recovery.
Leman encouraged residents to continue staying up to date with health information from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) at www.cdc.gov, and the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) at www.dshs.texas.gov.
