Starting tomorrow morning, Industrial Boulevard will be closed between Longwood Drive and FM 332 to allow work to begin on the creek crossing in that area.

Work will consist of removing the old corrugated culverts and guardrail, as well as relocating and widening the crossing.  The crossing will be widened using concrete drainage boxes, along with the addition of new guardrails and a new roadway to alleviate the current conditions.

The project was initially supposed to begin in early December, but Public Works Director Dane Rau said it got pushed back once the city got approved for FEMA reimbursement for a lake line lowering project on Highway 36 North.  The line was exposed after the flooding events of May 2016.

Rau said the contractor for the project, Barclays Premier Utility Services, was shifted over to the lake line project because there was a short window to complete it before the summer months.  The lake line project has been completed, so work on the creek crossing can now begin.  The creek crossing project is contracted to Barclays for $321,885.

The closure is expected to last approximately 90-120 days, if weather conditions are favorable.  FM 389 and FM 332 will be used as detours around the construction area.

The road will be closed to thru traffic, but local traffic can enter for access to residences and businesses.
