BURTON SCHOOL BOARD TO DISCUSS CLASS RANKINGS, GPA AT VIRTUAL MEETING WEDNESDAY

The Burton School Board is set to take up a lengthy agenda at its virtual meeting tonight (Wednesday).

Topics to be discussed tonight include a resolution regarding the determination of class rankings and GPA in light of the ongoing school closures due to COVID-19.

The board will also consider a statement of impact from the charter school International Leadership of Texas, as well as an educator appraisal waiver resolution.  International Leadership of Texas aims for education taught from a global perspective, where all students are given the opportunity to learn the English, Spanish and Chinese languages, and graduate with the necessary tools for future leadership and success in the international world.

Also at tonight’s meeting, board members will consider several personnel and teacher contracts, and hear reports from the superintendent, elementary and high school principals, and athletic director.

The board will also consider:

  • Accepting a scholarship donation from the estate of Donald Derrick.
  • The Texas Association of School Board (TASB) Risk Management Fund’s new Comprehensive Coverage Program proposal for 2020-21.
  • Approval of Lightspeed as the provider of the district’s Internet content filter.
