BIG CART DELIVERIES TO CONTINUE THROUGH NEXT WEEK
City of Brenham residents waiting for their new sanitation carts from Brannon Industrial Group (BIG) may have to wait a little longer.
City of Brenham officials announced this (Friday) afternoon that cart deliveries will continue through the weekend and into early next week. Delivery will occur tomorrow (Saturday) from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
City Manager James Fisher said at Thursday’s meeting of the Brenham City Council that all carts would be delivered by the end of this week.
Upon receiving their carts, residents are asked to take them off the streets and not use them until the week of May 4th, when BIG begins collections. They are also asked to not throw away the flyers that come with the carts, which provide information on the garbage and recycling collection days.
Residents with questions or concerns about carts or delivery are asked to contact the city at 979-337-7440.
Carts were delivered to my neighborhood last week and many still remain on front lawns. It is totally ridiculous that folks have not been reading the plethora of news regarding how this transition will take place. Please people, find a spot for your carts that is not out in the open. You may have to think a little bit about where to place your containers, but get with the program. If your carts remain in the street or front lawn, it is a negative reflection of you.

Suggestions:
1. Set up a compost pile and compost non-meat and non-dairy food wastes.
2. Recycle as much as you can. Extra recyclables can be dropped off at the collection station.
3. Pay for an extra waste container. (I think that was mentioned as an option in previous articles.)
4. Make an arrangement with a single or elderly neighbor who isn’t using their entire container, to put a bag in with their trash, in exchange for something you can do for them.
Now we only get one trash pickup per week instead of two. Will the fee be cut in half? I think we know the answer to that. My bin is already full, plus I have a full bag of trash that won’t fit in the bin. This is not good.
You must live in a box! This issue has been the main headline for several months so do some reviewing on KWHI past news and comments then all your answers will be met!
Also you should not be using your new trash bin until the designated date posted on your notification flyer or KWHI’s news feed.
I don’t even live in the city limits but know more then the inner city folks by simply just reading and being involved with what’s going on and more importantly aware and pick up your phone and dial a live voice to ask these simple questions instead of looking like the lone lost garbage pal kid…
Thank you for your kind words.
Dude, read the story before replying to it.
“and not use them until the week of May 4th, when BIG begins collections.”
And that was probably on the flyer on the bins.
Just out of curiosity how many bags of trash fit in your cart ?
