“DAISY” NAMED PET OF THE WEEK; BRENHAM ANIMAL SHELTER NEARLY OUT OF ADOPTABLE PETS

The Brenham Pet Adoption Center has named “Daisy” as its Pet of the Week.

Daisy is a Lab mix, about three to four years old.  Brenham Animal Services staff say she is a great-natured girl who is very athletic despite her size.  Staff say she was an owner-surrender that appears to be house trained, walks well on a leash, and is gentle when she takes treats from a person’s hand.

Brenham Animal Services Manager Allison Harper says over the last month since the shelter closed to visitors, the shelter’s population has dropped from 70 to six dogs available for adoption.  Harper said 13 animals have been sent to foster, but most of them are becoming foster “failures” in that they are being adopted permanently.  There are a few cats left for adoption that are in foster, which can be viewed online at www.petfinder.com.

The shelter is still closed, but appointments for adoptions are available by calling 979-337-7351 or going to the Brenham Animal Services Facebook page.  Appointments are being accepted Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday from 8 to 11 a.m.
