BRENHAM NURSING & REHAB CENTER OFFICIALS RESPOND TO COVID CASES

Officials with Brenham Nursing and Rehabilitation Center have responded to an investigation into a large number of cases of Coronavirus at the facility

Brooke Ladner, Senior Vice President for Business Development with Regency Integrated Health Services, the center’s parent company, has issued a statement, saying that “Since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, staff members of the Brenham Nursing and Rehabilitation Center (BNRC) have worked diligently to protect its residents from infection, by adhering to recommendations and guidelines set by local, state, and federal agencies. Our supplies of Personal Protection Equipment have been fortified, staff members undergo regular training and staff and residents have been tested in conjunction with the Department of Health.”

Ladner says the company was notified late Friday afternoon that a Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) response team was being dispatched to Brenham to assist in the facility’s COVID-19 response.

Ladner goes on to say, the facility does not, “anticipate a disruption in the care we are able to provide as the state expedites on-site testing.”

She says the company is committed to maintaining an open line of communication with residents, staff and family members as more information is available.

  1. Please no negative remarks about employees as they have been in mask and other changes for months and are at risk daily. For many clients over the years, the staff may be the only family they know. They should be highly praised and appreciated as they truly care for the clients.

  2. I feel bad for those that have loved ones there or any nursing home and see there is a lack of communication here. Seems that all nursing homes have this. I have seen that in some states 70% of homes have cases. It is hard to combat emotions comments, but when taking a step back, should testing occur for every employee, every shift in every nursing home that contains a loved one or just one in this powerful senators district? Employees could go home and contract the virus just hours after being tested. The only way to 100% keep you family members safe, is to take them home and care for them.

    1. The reason some residents are in the nursing home is that they need “nursing” care 24 hours a day that the families are not capable of providing. Don’t just assume that the families can take them home and care for them. It breaks our heart that we cannot. My family member is completely bedridden with multiple medical issues. And has tested positive for the virus. These kind of comments are hurtful for us with what is going on. Please don’t make assumptions when you are not in our situation. Please think before you speak or write.

  3. I just feel so bad for the residents at the nursing home they didn’t have to die. SOMEONE FROM THE OUT SIDE GAVE THEM THAT VIRUS AND EMPLOYEE, VISITOR. SOME PEOPLE IN BRENHAM STILL NOT USING MASK OR GLOVES

  4. It all comes down to testing availability and social distancing. The US was two steps behind other developed nations from the get go. The same with shutdowns and mandatory masks. If citizens would please read “reliable” sources on the history of the Spanish flu, it will show that he first round of infections took several million lives. The second round was more than double. With this pandemic, business can resume slowly, but ONLY with austere measures such mandatory masks, and small group gatherings with social distancing, until a quality vaccine and effective treatments are established. And IF vaccines are not mandatory, the unnecessary deaths will continue.

    1. Nope you have no clue what is going on up there. I do unfortunately and this has nothing to do with testing availability. This company has test kits for everyone up there and after 5 days of saying they are going to test everyone there they still have not done so. Thank goodness for Kolkhorst (NOT the city and county officials) sending swat teams to improve and take over the situation there. It is much needed And saying they have an open line of communication is not true either. Lies. Lies and lies. Having a family member there we have not had our questions answered by the nursing home.

      1. I am with you all the way. City and county will sit on their hands, and tell stories to what they think people want to hear or what sounds best for them at any certain time. I have worked for the city, and I can tell you they are not transparent about anything factual. The city and county will withhold information or not be transparent-same thing ….protect yourself I have read comments from people that have or had family members in their and cannot get information on their loved ones. Very sad that it went this far. Prayers to all the families

      2. Thank God that somebody is doing something. I am grateful Kolkhorst stepped in on this disaster. So much frustration for my neighbors who have a loved on in this place.

      3. This is the truth! People would rather blame government, not given this, not having that, behind 2 days!!! Nope! Follow the money!!!!! These HUGE corporations that own these nursing homes….are who gets and stops and calls the shots! There is a reason why EMPLOYEES ARE AFRAID TO TELL THE TRUTH AND USE THEIR NAMES! It is called “retaliation!” It is illegal, ESPECIALLY IN THE “RESIDENT RIGHTS” for residents I. The nursing home. HAPPENS TO RESIDENTS AND THE EMPLOYEES OFTEN! It is the CORPORATIONS THAT OWN THESE NURSING HOMES THAT DO NOT REPORT INCIDENTS, ACCIDENTS, and in thiS CASE, COVA-19!

      4. There were not enough kits to test all residents and employees at once until Saturday when the Task Force set up a tent and tested everyone. It is hard to get enough tests and often times people have to be retested. This state and country does NOT yet have the infrastructure to test properly. Everything is piecemeal. Hodgepodge. Very disorganized.
A crying shame for the richest and greatest country on the planet. Very disappointed by our state of affairs.

      5. Testing like hand sanitizer, bleach, facemasks, PPE, and ventilator supply and availability are in poor supply. You can get then if you are lucky enough. It is good to have a local advocate like our state senator Lois Kolkhorst.

If you do not believe me, try get tested if you have no symptoms. It is a total disgrace.Oh if you are willing to pay and are well connected, it will be easier.

    2. “MANDATORY masks….MANDATORY vaccines”? No thanks! My rights don’t end where your fear begins.

      1. I don’t understand the thought process. This is not some ordinary situation. The masks are to prevent the spread. It’s not that hard to understand. The same people that are refusing to wear masks are the same people that shout “pro life“ every other day of the week. But I guess that only applies when it doesn’t directly affect you. What is so difficult about putting on a mask? You are what is wrong with this country.

      2. What’s wrong with masks and vaccines? This attitude is the reason Washington County has over 100 cases and counting.

      3. If you’re going to refuse to wear a mask and/or be vaccinated when/if a vaccine is available, then please stay away from other people. Thanks.

        1. Research ID2020. For those of you that want a mandatory vaccine for a VIRUS that has less than a 1% kill rate is ridiculous!

Research Event 201. This has all been planned and put into place by the very people you see in the news every day. WHO, the CDC, and your precious Dr, Fauci all have ties to big pharma, Bill Gates and the Communist Chinese government. Fauci gave the Wuhan lab 3.7 million dollars back in 2014. Why would he or this government do that? This is takeover and a heist.

For those of you that keep screaming the sky is falling, fine …, continue to be sheep. If you would actually pay attention to something other than want your TV tells you, maybe you would see what is really going on here.

As I currently write this, 30 million people in poorer nations are starving to death due to lockdowns. Suicide rates are up all across the world as well.

It’s time to wake up, people. What’s happening here is biblical…, and it’s not the good parts.

      4. I Second that, No Thanks

I’m not wearing a mask, I’m not paying a fine, and I’m not going to jail either.

You will not tread on me and just try to come take it (liberty and property).

Best the fear mongers stay in hiding the remainder of their lives and let the productive men and women get back to life.

    3. Did y’all see the lawsuit being in Harris County ( Houston TX. ) against mandatory of mask wearing starting on Monday? This is a fine example why Washington County hasn’t made it mandatory is because it has to come from the state government or the president not just someone thinking it’s a good idea… Heck I have a lot of great ideas that might or might not work but if you agree you’ll follow the yellow bus and if not you’ll keep waking so my point is that it’s not a law as of yet so do as you wish for your own protection and if you are a mask wearing individual then wear your mask and quit adjusting it all day long after touching everything because your infecting yourself bringing your hand to your face then gonna blame us for not wearing a mask! Just a use your own judgment call in my opinion!

      1. It is a high recommendation from the CDC and the Government Doctors (Professionals that deal with viruses)to wear a mask. Yes you can choose not to, but then your thinking of only yourself as most around here do. This is a time to think of others as well, and not be just about yourself
