WASHINGTON CO. NOW AT 119 TOTAL COVID-19 CASES, 13 DEATHS

Washington County EMS officials confirmed 11 new cases of COVID-19 and two deaths over the weekend.

County officials reported five cases on Saturday and six on Sunday, in patients ranging in age from their 30s to their 90s.

As of this (Monday) morning, the county has 119 confirmed cases—88 of them active—and 13 deaths related to COVID-19.

Friday, at the request of State Senator Lois Kolkhorst, the state launched a Mobile Integrated Healthcare Unit to the Brenham Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, where officials say over half of the county’s cases are located.  The unit’s role, according to a release Friday, was to triage, test all patients and staff, assist in facility management, and make recommendations for next steps for the facility and patient care.

Washington County Health Authority Dr. William Loesch said Friday while there may be a “spike in positive cases due to a single source”, he believes “community spread cases are slowing”.

Of the 88 active cases, three patients are currently hospitalized.  Eighteen people have recovered from the virus.
