WESTWOOD CINEMA 6 TO REMAIN CLOSED THROUGH MID-MAY

While movie theaters are among the establishments eligible to reopen their doors to limited occupancy starting tomorrow (Friday), Westwood Cinema 6 in Brenham is one of many that are opting to stay closed.

In a statement Thursday afternoon, Westwood owners George and Brenda Rainosek say they and Westwood management “cannot in good conscience and using prudent business and safety practices open a 20,000 square foot complex with 1,000 seats at 25 percent capacity”.

They say at this time, they are researching and laying plans for a re-opening the third or fourth week of May, following the next scheduled update from Governor Greg Abbott falling around May 17th.  They add that the theater’s operating model upon reopening may be unique to Westwood, but it will be one that is “logistically well planned” and offers safe and quality presentation.

Westwood joins movie chains like Cinemark, Alamo Drafthouse, AMC, and Regal in continuing to remain closed for the time being.
