BELLVILLE CITY COUNCIL ELECTION TO BE DECIDED SATURDAY

Election Day has arrived for voters in Bellville, who will decide on a pair of contested races for the city council.

On the ballot, Alderwoman Position Three Donna Jacob faces challenger Ashley Slater, while Wayne Browning and Paul Looney are vying for the Position One seat currently held by Alderwoman Cassie Janish, who is not seeking re-election.

Meanwhile, Garrett Dornon is running unopposed for the Position Five seat held by longtime alderman and Mayor Pro Tem Doug Lottridge, who is also not running for re-election.

Election Day voting takes place today (Saturday) from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Sens Activity Center at 200 Briar Ridge Drive in Bellville.

According to City Secretary Betty Hollon, through the first five days of early voting from April 20th through the 24th, there were 108 walk-in voters and 62 ballots cast by mail.  Numbers were not available for the extended early voting days of Monday and Tuesday.

This is the only local election, after Bellville ISD moved to delay its school board election until the General Election on November 3rd.
