ROBBERY, SHOOTING, DRUG INVESTIGATION LEADS TO ARREST OF FIVE NAVASOTA MEN

Five Navasota men were arrested Thursday in connection to ongoing robbery, shooting, and drug investigations.

Navasota Police Chief Shawn Myatt said the five men were served warrants stemming from an April 8th robbery in which one person was shot.  He said Navasota police have also been working with College Station officers on recent burglary and theft cases that have occurred in the two areas.

Around 5:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon, police executed search warrants in connection with the April 8th incident at a residence in the 500 block of Laredo Street.  Officers arrested 25-year-old Latrance Washington, 19-year-old Michael Oaks, 17-year-old Rubin Ethel, 21-year-old Davonte Oaks, and 18-year-old Dekeimus Jessie, all of Navasota.

Police say they found more than five ounces of marijuana, bottles of liquid codeine, a gun, stolen property, and more than $50,000 in cash inside the home.  Myatt said some of the items recovered during Thursday’s arrests are linked to the cases investigated by Navasota and College Station police.

Washington is charged with Unlawful Carrying of a Firearm and Possession of more than Four Ounces of Marijuana, with more charges pending.  Jessie has been charged with Aggravated Robbery, while Michael and Davonte Oaks, along with Ethel, have been charged with two counts of Robbery.

According to the Grimes County Sheriff’s Office, Washington, Jessie, and Michael Oaks are in the Grimes County Jail, while Ethel and Davonte Oaks are currently in Brazos County custody.
