GRIMES CO. DEPUTIES DISCOVER SEVERAL-YEAR-OLD HUMAN REMAINS

  

Human remains believed to be several years old were discovered by Grimes County Sheriff’s Deputies within a local subdivision over the weekend.

Deputies responded to the Plantation Lakes subdivision Sunday in reference to a person finding possible human remains.

According to a release from the Grimes County Sheriff’s Office, the scene was secured overnight, and Grimes County investigators and a DPS Ranger conducted “an extensive and thorough crime scene search” on Monday.  The remains have been confirmed to be human by a forensic anthropologist with the University of North Texas in Dallas.

The skeletal remains, according to the Sheriff’s Office, appear to have been at this location thick with underbrush for several years.  Officials said the public is not in danger, and do not suspect foul play.
