BBAC REOPENING MONDAY ALONG WITH GYMS, EXERCISE FACILITIES, OFFICE-BASED BUSINESSES, NON-ESSENTIAL MANUFACTURERS
Today (Monday) marks the next step in Governor Greg Abbott’s Reopen Texas plan, allowing more businesses and facilities to open up to limited capacity.
Under the guidelines permitted by Abbott in his executive order issued May 5th, gyms, exercise facilities, non-essential manufacturers and office-based businesses can reopen to 25 percent occupancy.
For gyms and exercise facilities, showers and locker rooms must remain closed, equipment must be disinfected after each use, and clients need to maintain six feet distance from others and wear gloves when working out.
Today also marks the reopening of Brenham’s Blue Bell Aquatic Center, whose indoor and therapeutic pools are now open by appointment only. Patrons can make appointments by going online to https://cityofbrenham.org/bbac.
Hours are Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and closed on Sunday. The facility’s leisure pool is planned to reopen on June 1st, coinciding with increased hours of operation. While the restrooms will be open, locker rooms and the concession stand will remain closed.
Swimmers can reserve 45 minute time blocks at the top of the hour. Competition pool swimmers will be limited to one per lane, and the therapy pool will be limited to five people at a time. Commonly shared equipment will be sanitized at the beginning of each shift, and cannot be shared during a shift. Swim lessons and aerobic classes will remain cancelled.
Offices can operate with up to five employees at a time or 25 percent of their total workforce—whichever is greater—as long as they adhere to proper health measures and maintain social distancing. For non-essential manufacturers with more than ten workers at a time, they are asked to choose a person in charge of enforcing health protocols.
Abbott is expected to hold a press conference today at 2 p.m., where he may discuss the steps involved with Phase Three of the state’s reopening plan.
