FAYETTE CO. NARCOTICS UNIT CONFISCATES OVER 20 POUNDS OF HEROIN HIDDEN IN CAR BATTERIES

Fayette County Narcotics K9 Kolt has been on a hot streak of late, helping the Sheriff’s Office confiscate nearly 30 pounds of heroin in under two weeks’ time.
Tuesday afternoon, around 5:45 p.m., Fayette County Narcotics Unit Sergeant Randy Thumann and Kolt stopped a Ford F-350 on I-10 at the 660 mile marker for a traffic violation.

After being given consent to search the vehicle, Sgt. Thumann and Deputy Jeramy Ellison found approximately 20.5 pounds of heroin concealed inside two car batteries. The narcotics have an estimated street value of $2.79 million.

The driver, 52-year-old Gudelio Garza of Del Rio, was arrested for felony Heroin Possession and taken to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center.
Kolt was also involved with the confiscation of approximately 8 pounds of heroin valued at $1,095,000 during a traffic stop on I-10 May 8th.
