FORMER TOMBALL ISD SUPERINTENDENT NAMED BRENHAM ISD INTERIM SUPERINTENDENT
Brenham ISD has named an interim superintendent to fill the position of its outgoing superintendent, Dr. Walter Jackson.

At a meeting Wednesday, the Brenham School Board unanimously approved the appointment of Huey Kinchen to serve until a permanent superintendent is hired. Dr. Jackson will be leaving to assume his new position as superintendent of La Porte ISD, although the La Porte School Board cannot vote to officially hire him until June 3rd.
Kinchen has 36 years of educational experience with public and private schools. He was the deputy superintendent in Tomball ISD from 2009 to 2013, and became the district’s superintendent in 2013 until his retirement in 2017.
Kinchen’s experience includes superintendent, deputy superintendent, building principal, associate principal, athletic director, teacher, and coach. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Southwestern Louisiana, and a master’s degree from Southeastern Louisiana University.
Kinchen said he is honored the board has chosen him to assist Brenham ISD in its transition to a new superintendent. He added that, living close to Brenham, he has always enjoyed the area. He said, “With a sense of calculated urgency, Brenham ISD students will be my top priority.”
