INDUSTRY TO GET NEW EMS STATION

A new EMS station will be coming to Industry, after Austin County Commissioners approved an amendment to the county’s EMS station contract with Burns Architecture.

The contract with the architecture firm allows for the construction of an EMS station in Sealy, using voter-approved bond funds from 2018.  County Judge Tim Lapham said at Monday’s meeting that the project is underway, and funds will be left over from the bond to use for a station in Industry.  The contract amendment will add the Industry station into the Sealy project.

County officials said that land would be available by the Industry Volunteer Fire Department facility, which currently houses EMS.  There will be around $800,000 in the contract budget to build the new station.

The project was initially brought up during the Commissioners’ meeting on May 26th, but was tabled in order to decide on a site for the station.
