BRENHAM CITY COUNCIL TO DISCUSS MUNICIPAL PROJECTS, BUDGET IN WORKSHOP

The Brenham City Council will hold workshop discussion pertaining to recently completed, ongoing, and upcoming municipal projects at its meeting Thursday.

The council will hear updates on several residential, commercial, and city construction projects that are in various stages of completion, ranging from new subdivision development, commercial remodels, and city street and storm repairs.  Councilmembers will also receive an update on the current fiscal year budget.

In regular session Thursday, the council will consider a professional services agreement for engineering services between the city and Strand Associates, Inc., to construct sanitary sewer improvements related to the Baker Katz development project.

The agreement will provide for additional engineering related services for the sanitary sewer improvements for the Baker Katz development, potential future development, and the future Brenham Family Park.  Also included in the additional engineering services is the decommissioning of the existing lift station located on the Brenham State Supported Living Center property and a new lift station located on city property.

Also at Thursday’s meeting, councilmembers will discuss adopting revised aviation minimum standards for the Brenham Municipal Airport.  The current minimum standards were adopted in 2005 based on TxDOT’s minimum standard template, and mainly addresses Fixed Base Operators (FBO).  The proposed document defines FBOs along with other Specialized Aviation Services Operators (SASO) that offer aeronautical activities such as charter operations, pilot training, aircraft rentals and sales, aircraft maintenance and repair, and other activities.

The council will also consider:

  • A gift deed between the city and James Hanath related to 2.193 acres of land described as Lot 3C of the replat of Lot 2 and Lot 3 of the Little Sandy Subdivision.
  • Renewal of the city’s group health plan with the Texas Municipal League Health Benefits Pool and establishment of funding rates for the plan year beginning October 1st through September 30, 2021.
  • Recommendations for appointments and/or reappointments to various city boards and commissions.
  • A resolution amending the policies and procedures for city boards and commissions.
  • An update on the city’s COVID-19 response and recovery efforts.

The council will meet Thursday afternoon at 1 p.m., at Brenham City Hall.
