The College announced at Tuesday’s Board of Trustees meeting that Eunice Kelm donated the more than 186-acre Kelm Angus Farm, located approximately ten miles north of the College’s Brenham Campus, to the Blinn College Foundation.  The gift marks the largest land donation in Blinn College history.

Blinn plans to use the property to provide hands-on learning opportunities on an active, operating ranch.

Blinn College Foundation Chair Sam Sommer and Assistant Dean of Agricultural Sciences Dr. Bryn Behnke both thanked Eunice and her family for the donation.  Sommer said “the enormity of this gift is exceeded only by the love and support Eunice Kelm and her family have for Blinn’s agricultural students and faculty”, adding this is “a transformational moment for all involved”.  Dr. Behnke said this donation “adds to the exciting new era that the Agricultural Sciences Department is experiencing”.

Kelm Angus Farm was established in 1975 by Eunice and her husband Elwood, who passed away in 2017, with a handful of Angus cattle.  Together, the two made a habit of supporting local 4-H and FFA organizations and sponsoring youth with registered Angus heifers.  Three generations of the Kelm family have graduated from Blinn.

In a letter to Blinn’s Board of Trustees, Eunice wrote she is confident that with the supervision of the College’s Agricultural Sciences faculty, the property will be used to “educate young ag students about raising good Angus cattle and producing excellent forage with good pasture management”.
