CALDWELL MAN ARRESTED AFTER CHASE THROUGH GRIMES, WASHINGTON COUNTIES

A Caldwell man is in Grimes County custody after a chase late Sunday night through Grimes and Washington Counties.

(Grimes Co. Jail)

According to Navasota Police Chief Shawn Myatt, police were called out a little after 11 p.m. to the 500 block of West Washington Avenue for a report of a rolling disturbance at a local gas station.  When they arrived, they found a woman and 39-year-old Joshua Schoen of Caldwell in the car at the scene.  After the woman left the car upon police request, Schoen fled from officers, leading to a pursuit down Highway 105.

According to Myatt, DPS troopers spike stripped Schoen’s car, which stopped in the parking lot of the Rattler’s gas station in Brenham at Highway 105 and Blue Bell Road.  Schoen, who according to Myatt was holding a knife, initially refused to get out of the vehicle but was eventually taken into custody by officers.

Schoen was charged with Assault Causing Bodily Injury and Evading Arrest or Detention with a Vehicle.

Agencies involved in the arrest, according to Grimes County Sheriff Don Sowell, include the Navasota and Brenham Police Departments, Grimes and Washington County Sheriff’s Offices, and DPS.

Myatt said the full report of the incident will not be available until tomorrow (Tuesday).

  1. He had a weapon, resisted arrest, fled the scene by the way of high speed chase, yet he’s alive!!!

    1. I think that speaks volumes about the quality of law enforcement that we have in this area, they were able to use their training to de-escalate the situation so that no one had to be harmed. Other agencies could learn a lot from the fine law enforcement officers we have in this area. I had not thought of this until “Privileged” pointed it out, but it is an excellent point and I thank the poster for helping us to see and appreciate our police and first responders.

    2. He had a knife in the car with himself and refused to get out….. NOT an officers taser pointed at the officer… BIG difference… Everyone has got to quit being so dang sensitive…

    3. He is also going to be in jail for a while. That doesn’t seem like much of a privilege to me, honestly.

    4. You are entirely correct! We are very privileged to have law enforcement agencies in this area that are so skilled at their jobs. I am thankful for them everyday!
