SEALYBRATION CANCELLED AFTER SPIKE IN COVID-19 CASES, ORDERS FROM GOV. ABBOTT

Organizers for the 12th Annual Sealybration have called off the event after the recent uptick in COVID-19 cases across the state.

This (Friday) afternoon, the Sealy Community Foundation Board of Directors announced the cancellation of the event, originally set for July 10-12 at B&PW Park in Sealy.  The board made the decision after consulting with city officials and reviewing today’s executive order from Governor Greg Abbott.

The board said the decision did not come lightly, but felt it necessary for the wellbeing of everyone involved.

Governor Abbott’s order today mandated that outdoor gatherings of 100 or more people must be approved by local governments, with certain exceptions.

The board said it looks forward to hosting next year’s celebration.
