WASHINGTON CO. COVID-19 RESPONSE FUND RECEIVES $10,000 DONATION
Brenham City Manager James Fisher announced at today’s City Council meeting that the Washington County COVID-19 Response Fund received a generous donation at the end of June.
Fisher said the $10,000 donation allowed for additional assistance to several local businesses.
The donation was allocated to three locally owned businesses that had pending applications when there were no more funds to disburse.
Brenham Economic Development Director Susan Cates said that as of today, the fund has received a total of $118,000 and allocated all of it to 57 different locally owned businesses.
Cates also stated that the city is not accepting new applications for assistance unless further donations are received.
Cates, Councilmember Susan Cantey, Leon Toubin, and John Barnhill make up the fund oversight committee, and are continuing their efforts to support small business recovery where possible.
Cantey and Fisher both anticipate more applications for financial assistance to be filed, depending on what happens with COVID-19 in the coming months.
