GIDDINGS TO MOVE BACK START OF SCHOOL YEAR
The Giddings ISD has moved back the start of the 2020-21 school year nearly two weeks.
The Giddings ISD administration and the district’s Improvement Committee recommended to the school board that the opening day of classes be moved back from Wednesday, August 19th to Monday, August 31st.
Officials say the delay will provide additional time for faculty and staff to be properly trained on the new learning management system.
The later start will also provide time to front load lessons for remote learning.
Officials say they will also recommend the school day will be extended 15 minutes, in order to avoid extending the school year.
