MONTHLY BUILDING PERMITS LED AGAIN BY BLINN STUDENT HOUSING PROJECT

  

For the second month in a row, construction for new student housing on Blinn College’s Brenham Campus led the monthly building permits issued by the City of Brenham.

The city issued a pair of permits valued at $8,313,683 and $5,385,013 to Moss Associates representing Blinn College, for new construction at the site of the Blinn student housing project.  The new dormitory complex, to be located at 911 and 811 West Fifth Street, will hold 262 sleeping rooms with a maximum of 504 residents.

The city issued 26 permits worth $15,019,896 in July, up from last July’s totals of 21 permits worth $1,898,645.

Similar to June, July had a strong showing for new homes, with nine homes permitted for $1,015,740.  So far this year, the city has permitted 48 new homes worth $6,314,537.

Through 2020, the county has issued 170 permits worth $69,981,501, compared to the 169 permits for $33,009,172 issued through this time last year.
