BAYLOR SCOTT AND WHITE NOW ALLOWING ONE VISITOR PER PATIENT PER DAY WITH UPDATED POLICY

  

Baylor Scott and White is now allowing limited visitation for patients after updating its visitation policy.

After reviewing the clinical team and citing a decreasing trend of COVID-19 inpatients across the Baylor Scott and White Health system, the healthcare organization on Monday began allowing one visitor per patient per day in most cases.

Update @ 9:15 a.m. Friday: For Baylor Scott and White's College Station Region, this includes patients in emergency departments, according to Baylor Scott and White Public Relations Manager Megan Hoffman.  Patients who are confirmed or suspected to have COVID-19 are excluded.

Baylor Scott and White officials say family and friends are “an important part” of a patient’s healing process, and that they will work with families to ensure their loved ones feel supported throughout their care journey.

Patients who are confirmed or suspected to have COVID-19 may be accompanied by one visitor over the age of 16 if:

• The patient is receiving care from pediatric units or NICUs,
• The patient is laboring or receiving post-partum care,
• The patient is undergoing a surgery or procedure,
• The patient is experiencing difficulty understanding or making decisions,
• The patient is disabled or impaired,
• The patient is receiving end-of-life care,
• In other situations deemed acceptable by local facility leaders.

All approved visitors must pass a health screening, including a temperature check, and wear a mask at all times inside Baylor Scott and White facilities.
