ONE POSITIVE COVID-19 CASE REMAINING AT WASHINGTON CO. JAIL
The Washington County Jail has nearly rid itself of COVID-19.

Data from the Texas Commission on Jail Standards (TCJS) indicates the jail, as of Thursday, only had one active case in an inmate, with no cases remaining in staff members or jailors. There are currently no inmates, staff members, or jailors who are awaiting test results.
According to Jail Captain Eric Hensley, there are ten incoming prisoners who are under quarantine. This is in keeping with the jail’s COVID-19 protocols of isolating incoming inmates from the rest of the jail population for 14 days, so as to avoid potential exposure to housed inmates.
To date, according to Hensley, the jail has had 16 total cases of COVID-19 since first reporting cases, including 12 inmates and four jailors. There have been no deaths attributed to the virus.
Hensley said the jail continues to do everything possible to prevent further contamination, as it has since the beginning of the pandemic.
Jail Medical Director Dr. Stuart Yoffe said he believes the jail’s administrative team has done “an excellent job” of giving the medical team everything it needs to contain the coronavirus within the confines of the jail when possible. He also thanked Baylor Scott and White and their team of physicians for continuing to support the individuals from jail who needed extra medical care. He added “teamwork has been the key” in the ongoing battle against COVID-19.
