AUTHORITIES FIND BODY OF DROWNING VICTIM AT LAKE SOMERVILLE

  

Update @ 1:25 p.m.: Authorities in Burleson County have located the body of a man reported missing Sunday night at Welch Park near Lake Somerville.

The body of 27-year-old Douglas Adelin Portillo-Funes of Honduras was found shortly after 10:30 a.m. this (Monday) morning.

Portillo-Funes was reported missing around 8:45 p.m. Sunday by family members, who told investigators that he was swimming with them and did not resurface after going under water.

The Burleson County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Parks and Wildlife, Park Rangers, and the Somerville Volunteer Fire Department all assisted in the search, which was suspended at midnight due to approaching storms, but continued at 8:30 a.m. this morning.

The body will be sent to the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

 

Original Story @ 7:32 a.m.: Authorities in Burleson County have confirmed there is a missing person at Welch Park near Lake Somerville.

Burleson County Chief Deputy John Pollock said investigators received word of the missing person around 8:45 p.m. Sunday night.  They temporarily suspended their search shortly before midnight due to incoming storms, but they have resumed their search this (Monday) morning.
