AUSTIN CO. ENACTS BURN BAN
Austin County has joined the list of counties in the region to enact a burn ban.
At their meeting Monday, Austin County Commissioners voted unanimously to institute a burn ban, which prohibits outdoor burning until further notice. The burn ban became effective Monday at noon.
Commissioner Randy Reichardt said he was not expecting the storms in the Gulf of Mexico to bring much in the way of rain to alleviate the current dry conditions in the county.
Austin County now joins Brazos, Burleson, Colorado, Fayette, Grimes, Lee, Madison, Milam, Robertson, Walker, and Waller Counties that have issued burn bans.
