DIP IN SALES TAX REBATES FOR ALL WASHINGTON CO. ENTITIES IN SEPTEMBER
Sales and tax distributions were down across the board for Washington County in September.
The county’s rebate in September was $251,268, down 6.8 percent from last September’s rebate of $269,674. For 2020 so far, the county has received $2,272,976, a 6.1 percent decrease compared to the $2,422,642 received at this point last year.
Brenham’s September rebate totaled $571,155, a 1.9 percent dip from the $582,260 it received last September. So far this year, the city has received $5,182,446, 1.4 percent down from last year’s payment-to-date of $5,257,052.
Burton received $6,397 this month, down 4.1 percent from last September, when the city received $6,672. To date, the city has received $65,462, up 6.1 percent from a year ago, when it had received $61,680.
Comptroller Glenn Hegar reported that, for September, the state paid out $765.3 million in local sales tax allocations, down 4.5 percent from last September, but still up 0.1 percent for the year so far.
