WALLER CO. FAIR BEGINS SATURDAY

Activities get underway this weekend at the 75th Waller County Fair.

While alterations have been made to the schedule, many of the previously planned events will still proceed at the fair, which kicks off Saturday night at the Waller County Fairgrounds in Hempstead.

Fair President Matt Hyatt said events have been adjusted in order to accommodate COVID-19 precautions.

Glen Templeton’s performance Saturday night will be preceded by the announcement of the Waller County Fair Queen.  Seven contestants are vying for the honor this year: Olivia Elizalde, Harlie Kuhn, Jenna Rice, Lilly Rinehart, Madelyn Wawarofsky, Carson Webb, and McKennah Youngs.  Season passes are available for $30 from each of the candidates.

Other entertainment at the fair includes Randall King on Thursday, October 1st, Jon Stork on Friday, October 2nd and Josh Ward on Saturday, October 3rd, all at the rodeo arena.  In addition to the bull riding and bull fighting events Saturday, there will also be team roping on Monday, calf roping on Tuesday, and ladies’ breakaway roping on Wednesday.

Livestock judging will open on Sunday and continues through Thursday, October 1st, leading up to the Junior Livestock and Exhibit Auction on Saturday, October 3rd at 1 p.m.

Hyatt said the auction has also seen some changes, but still expects a great reception.

  1. I can’t believe anybody would go to this. This is crazy. The people who are sponsoring this simply do not care about people’s lives. Surely they can do without a fair for one year.
