ASTROS ONE WIN AWAY FROM PLAYOFF BERTH
The Houston Astros are one win away from clinching the final American League playoff berth.
Houston defeated the Rangers 12-4, Thursday night, giving them a three game lead over the Angels and Mariners with three games left.
Christian Javier (5-2) picked up the win, while the Astros belted four home runs: George Springer (14); Alex Bregman (5); Jose Altuve (4); and Josh Reddick (4). Each of the four had three hits on the night.
The Astros will try to clinch the playoff spot Friday night back at Arlington against the Rangers. Houston’s Jose Urquidy (1-1) will face Texas’ Kyle Cody (1-1) at 7:05.
