PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION TO DISCUSS UNDERGROUND LINES

The Brenham Planning and Zoning Commission will discuss underground utilities when they meet Monday evening.

The commission will hold a public hearing, then discuss and likely vote on amending the city’s Code of Ordinances, which would require all utilities to be located underground throughout all development and to amend the assurances for completion of improvements.

City officials recommended to city council earlier this month that the increase of both commercial and residential development means an amendment to the Code of Ordinances needs to include commercial properties to bury lines.

The ordinance currently only requires underground utilities within residential developments. (edit 9-28-2020 3:30 PM)

The Brenham Planning and Zoning Commission will meet Monday at 5:15 p.m. in city council chambers.

The meeting can be attended virtually at https://cityofbrenham.online/pzmeeting and/or call (844) 653-6177 (toll free); Meeting ID: 723 414 757#.

  1. This is a ridiculous ordinance to even suggest. I can’t believe this is coming from Planner and director. Obviously, a lack of real word experience or possibly no common sense. This is stupid bureaucracy that will again further complicate construction. You should have given more advance notice of the meeting.

    1. You are correct this is ridiculous. Industrial or commercial applications of only underground will only create design nightmares for owners.
