BRENHAM ISD CURRENTLY MOVING FORWARD WITH HOMECOMING OPTIONS

Brenham ISD is cautiously proceeding with plans for this year’s homecoming festivities.

Brenham ISD's homecoming festivities in 2019 included a parade through downtown Brenham, shown here. This year's events are still being decided upon by the school district.

In a press release Monday, the district said it “continues to explore options for the homecoming parade and homecoming dance” in order to help slow the spread of COVID-19 and protect students and staff.  District officials said this remains a “very fluid situation,” as many schools across the state have cancelled homecoming events.

Homecoming was initially planned for the Brenham Cubs’ football game October 16th versus Georgetown East View, but it has been pushed back to the Cubs’ November 13th matchup against Elgin.  Officials say they are currently working with students and staff on ideas and hope to release more details soon.

The district said it understands homecoming is a traditional event for students, staff, and the community.  Officials say there are “difficult decisions” ahead of the district’s final statement on whether it continues with or cancels homecoming events, but reiterate the safety of students and staff is their top priority.

The homecoming game on November 13th will kick off at 7 p.m. at Cub Stadium.  Tickets for the game can be purchased on the athletics page of the Brenham ISD website.
