TWIN SHOT OF ENTERTAINMENT IN DOWNTOWN BRENHAM WITH TEXAS ARTS AND MUSIC FESTIVAL, “HOT NIGHTS, COOL TUNES”
Lively art and great music is in store this weekend in downtown Brenham.
Downtown will be buzzing today (Friday) and tomorrow (Saturday) with both the Texas Arts and Music Festival and the City of Brenham’s “Hot Nights, Cool Tunes” concert series. The festival will feature two live murals, an art village, live music, food trucks and other activities, while “Hot Nights, Cool Tunes” will bring a pair of bands – Texas Unlimited Band tonight and Escape tomorrow night – to the Commerce Street parking lot.
Two murals will be added to downtown’s growing art collection, courtesy of Austin-based mural artists Tara Johnston and Luis Angulo. The murals will be painted on the back of the Today and Yesterday building near Toubin Park, and in the alleyway next to Funky Art Café near the intersection of Commerce Street and Church Street.
This morning, students from Brenham Junior High and Brenham High School will meet with the artists and watch them paint their murals, ask questions, and learn from their techniques.
The festival will not feature a VIP tent or indoor art installations. Festival attendees are encouraged to wear a mask and socially distance as much as possible.
At 7 p.m. tonight, Texas Unlimited Band, playing everything from country to 80’s hits, will take the stage, sponsored by Budweiser – Mike Hopkins Distributing, Brenham National Bank, Seidel Schroeder, and Dahmann and Associates, LLC. Tomorrow night’s concert will also begin at 7 p.m. and will feature the Journey tribute band Escape, sponsored by Brazos Valley Schools Credit Union, Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative, Brannon Industrial Group, and Tippit Dental Group.
The Texas Arts and Music Festival is a local non-profit organization dedicated to providing an event for art and music lovers to enjoy, while also raising money for local art programs. The festival has provided support for area school programs in Brenham, Burton, and Sealy.
