BURTON ROLLS PAST BARTLETT–SETS UP SHOWDOWN SATURDAY WITH SOMERVILLE

 

The Burton Panthers and the Somerville Yeguas are now set for a winner-take-all meeting, Saturday afternoon at The Rock in Somerville.

Monday night, the Panthers (3-6/3-2) rolled past Bartlett, 61-0.

Burton rolled up a 33-0 lead by halftime, on three touchdown runs by Cooper Lucherk of 60, 39 and five yards. Pierson Spiess added scoring runs of 38 and 20 yards.

In the second half, Lucherk added his fourth score, coming on a three-yard run.  Austin Gutierrez and Troy Patterson added third-quarter touchdown runs.

Raylan Parker closed out the scoring with a fumble recovery return for a touchdown.

Meanwhile in Somerville, the Yeguas (3-5/2-3) pounded Milano, 62-0.

Quarterback Johnny Legg threw for 168 yards and three touchdowns and ran for another, while Jeremiah Teague rushed for 127 yards and two scores.  Deven Green added a touchdown run.

Austin Horsley, Verkobe Woodbury and Dominic Tucker were on the receiving end of the Yeguas’ touchdown passes.

The wins by Burton and Somerville set up the regular season finale as a winner-take-all for the fourth and final playoff berth in District 13/2A DII.

The two will meet, Saturday at noon at The Rock in Somerville with the winner advancing to the post-season, while the losing team’s season comes to an end.
