The Panthers have forfeited their Bi-District Playoff game with Christoval that had been scheduled for Thursday evening.

Late Monday evening, Burton Head Football Coach and Athletic

Earlier this season the Panthers had to reschedule two games due to Covid-19 cases in the program.

The playoff game had been scheduled for Thursday evening in Llano, but will now see Christoval advance on to the Area Round.

No other details are available at this time.

The following statement was issued by Coach Hodde, Monday evening:

After consultation among administration and local health officials, and in accordance with health and safety protocols of the Centers for Disease Control, the Burton Independent School District has cancelled the Burton High School varsity Bi-District Playoff football game against Christoval High School, scheduled for November 12, 2020.

Due to confidentiality requirements, the Burton ISD can release no further information at this time.

The Burton ISD steadfastly prioritizes the health and safety of its student-athletes, as well as the entire Panther community.

  1. This is what happens when personal ego overrides public safety.
When the policy is to ignore that the pandemic exists, the students are the victims. Covid has never been taken seriously.

  2. Sorry but as much as I support Burton… not fair to Somerville to not let them go on to Bi-District.

    1. If the UIL Playoffs are supposed to showcase the state’s sports programs as well as provide the recognition to the student athletes, then Somerville should be allowed to take Burton’s spot in the bracket.
After all, Somerville followed the rules of Covid protocal and should be rewarded for that sacrifice.
