BRENHAM SCHOOL BOARD TO CONSIDER JOINING STATE COVID-19 RAPID TESTING PROJECT
The Brenham School Board will consider taking part in a state COVID-19 testing program at its meeting Monday.
The board will potentially move forward with developing protocols for participating in the Texas K-12 School System COVID Rapid Testing Project.
The project, which currently involves over 300 school districts in Texas, including Caldwell ISD, is being conducted by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) in partnership with the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) and Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM). The goal of the project is to keep schools safe and open for on-campus instruction by strategically deploying rapid COVID-19 testing resources.
Also at Monday’s meeting, trustees will consider approval of the Targeted Improvement Plan for Alton Elementary School. They will also hear a report from the superintendent.
In addition, the board will recognize Advanced Placement (AP) scholars and this month’s recipient of the “You Make a Difference” award. It will also potentially meet in executive session to discuss personnel matters.
The board will meet Monday evening at 6 p.m. in rooms 111 and 113 at Brenham High School. The meeting will be livestreamed on Brenham ISD’s YouTube channel.
There will also be a special meeting Tuesday between the “team of 8,” consisting of trustees and Superintendent Dr. Tylor Chaplin, to continue strategic planning. That meeting will also be held at 6 p.m. at Brenham High School.
