This program is normally 12 weeks and covers topics such as use of force, driving while intoxicated enforcement, and traffic stops. During the program, members conduct hands-on training that law enforcement officers are trained in.
This year, however, the Citizen’s Police Academy class was slightly different due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2020 class began in February, but was postponed for several months due to lockdowns and safety protocols.
The program restarted under the careful watch of instructors and extra safety protocols, and participants completed the course this month.
Anyone with questions about the Citizen’s Police Academy can contact Sergeant Todd Ashorn at 979-337-7382 or Sergeant Steven Eilert at 979-337-7326.
