DECEMBER SALES TAX REBATES UP FOR ALL LOCAL ENTITIES
2020’s sales and tax distributions for Washington County, Brenham and Burton ended on a positive note.
Washington County’s December rebate totaled $252,446, 0.86 percent up from last December’s payment of $250,275. This year, the county received $3,058,962, down 4 percent from 2019’s rebate of $3,188,369.
Brenham’s rebate this month was $567,380, up 0.36 percent from the $565,308 it received last December. For the year of 2020, the city received $6,957,898, down 0.01 percent from 2019, when it received $6,958,789.
Burton received $8,192 in December, a 4.51 percent increase from when the city received $7,838 last December. In total, the city received $87,192 this year, up 2.95 percent compared to 2019’s payment of $84,690.
For December, Comptroller Glenn Hegar reported the state distributed $790.3 million, down 3.7 percent from last December, and down 0.01 percent for the year.
