FORMER BRYAN ISD PRINCIPAL NAMED BRENHAM JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL INTERIM PRINCIPAL
Brenham ISD has named an interim principal to serve at Brenham Junior High School (BJHS).
Diana Werner, a retired principal from Bryan ISD, was selected to serve in the position for the spring semester beginning January 4th. While with Bryan ISD, she served as principal at Sul Ross Elementary, Jane Long Middle School, and Bryan High School.
Werner has also worked as Executive Director of Student Learning in Bryan ISD, Academic Coordinator for College Station ISD, and Enrichment Facilitator for the Gifted and Talented Program in San Marcos CISD. She was also an Assistant Principal in Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD and served as an elementary teacher in both Hays CISD and San Marcos CISD. While serving as principal, she also became an AVID Staff Development Trainer, in which she conducted training for administrators and lead coordinators at summer institutes.
Since her retirement in 2012, Werner has worked as a consultant for the Texas Education Agency (TEA) in school improvement and acting as a facilitator for school districts working through the Effective Schools Framework. She has also been an Assistant Instructor at Texas A&M teaching methods courses in Science, Language Arts, and Social Studies.
Superintendent Dr. Tylor Chaplin said he was “impressed” with Werner’s “philosophies on campus culture, on her approach to discipline and relationships with students, and on her ideas of how to build capacity in those she leads and works with.” He believes her experience will “bring a broad perspective that will be beneficial to the BJHS campus and the district as a whole.”
The announcement comes after the district’s sudden dismissal of previous principal Bryan Bryant on Tuesday. School leaders have not given details on the reason for the decision, with Dr. Chaplin only saying it was “time for a leadership change.”
