HIGHWAY 21 AT BRAZOS RIVER REOPENED AFTER FATAL CRASH INVOLVING FEDEX TRUCK

  

Update 3 @ 1:25 p.m.: DPS has released the names of the victims of Thursday's accident at Highway 21 and FM 50.  That story can be seen here.

Update 2 @ 6:00 a.m. Friday: One person was killed in a two-vehicle accident Thursday morning at Highway 21 and FM 50 near the Brazos River.

The crash occurred just after 9:30 a.m., and involved a Kia passenger car and a FedEx truck.

According to DPS Sergeant Erik Burse, the Kia had a tire blowout and lost control, driving into oncoming traffic before colliding with the FedEx truck.

The driver of the Kia was pronounced dead at the scene.  Sgt. Burse said DPS is waiting on dental records to identify the victim, and expects a name to be released today (Friday).

The driver of the FedEx truck suffered serious injuries and was transported to CHI St. Joseph in Bryan.

The highway was closed for several hours, redirecting drivers onto FM 60 through Snook.

 

Update 1 @ 5:00 p.m.: The Brazos County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed at least one person was killed in an accident this (Thursday) morning at Highway 21 and FM 50 near the Brazos River.

The accident was reported around 9:30 a.m., and involved a passenger car and a FedEx truck.

The highway was closed for several hours, redirecting drivers onto FM 60 through Snook.  Lanes are back open at this time.

More details are expected to be released.

 

Original Story @ 11:30 a.m.: Traffic at Highway 21 and FM 50 near the Brazos River is being rerouted after a two-vehicle accident this (Thursday) morning involving a passenger car and a FedEx truck.

The highway is currently closed, and drivers are being redirected onto FM 60 through Snook.

The condition of the drivers is not known at this time.  KWHI will provide more information as it becomes available.
