COMMISSIONERS TO HOLD PUBLIC HEARING ON PECAN GLEN ROAD DISTRICT

Washington County Commissioners are expected to vote on establishing a new county road district, when they meet Tuesday morning.

Commissioners will first hold a public hearing to discuss the establishment of the Pecan Glen Road District, covering roads within the Pecan Glen subdivision.

Creation of a district would help in issuing bonds for constructing, acquiring, improving, maintaining and operating subdivision roads.  Any bonds issued by the district would be paid through ad valorem taxes levied on all taxable property within the district; only homeowners in the district would be taxed.

Following the hearing, the commissioners’ court is expected to vote on the measure.

Also at Tuesday’s meeting, commissioners will consider:

Amending the county’s pay policy for peace officer certification involving proficiency certificate incentive pay, to include investigators for the County Attorney and District Attorney.

Awarding contracts for numerous products for the Road and Bridge Department.

Accepting a bid for the completion of construction of the Washington County EMS hangar facility.

Reports from a number of offices, including: Emergency Management Coordinator; County Clerk; District Clerk; Tax Assessor/Collector and Constables.

County Commissioners will meet Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. at the Washington County Courthouse Annex.
